Henny Penny Operational Training - Control Navigation
Diagnostics can be accessed by pressing "PROG" followed by "DIAGNOSTICS." Scroll through options with "UP" and "DOWN" buttons.
D1: IS PRODUCT COLOR OK?—If "NO" is selected, the ability to adjust the darkness of the product is made available and is controlled with "INFO" and "PROG" buttons. This indirectly controls the cooking time/temperature.
D2: THIS OIL IS X DAYS OLD—The fryers have a very complex algorithm that factors in the age of the oil, how many cook cycles, and of what type, it has used, how long the oil has sat idle, how many times the oil has been heated up, and so on. Therefore, the best time to change the oil is when the fryer says it is time to do so.
Info Mode can be accessed by pressing "INFO" and "PROG" at the same time.
1. E-LOG (error log)
Records 20+ most recent error codes
Can be scrolled though with "UP" and "DOWN" buttons, from newest to oldest
Displays error code and when error occurred—error code definitions can be found in the operator's manual
Most useful for identifying patterns in issues
11. INP (inputs)
V=voltage
H=high limit
D=drain switch
If one of these letters is missing, it is not reading (e.g., D will not display while the drain is open)
Henny Penny Operational Training - Control Troubleshooting
Error code definitions can be found in the operator's manual.
Some of the more common error codes include:
E-4=CPU too hot—unlikely with an electric fryer
E-41=Memory scrambled—This can usually be resolved with a power cycle (turning the fryer off and back on)
E-46/47=Faulty control board—The control board will need replaced
E-92=24V fuse in the control board has tripped—This is most often due to a short in the solenoid coil
Four blinking "8"s=Loose connection between control board and I/O board—This is typically due to corrosion
